5k's are interesting things. They are short enough that it seems like it should be simple and easy. Yet long enough that is not the case.
I have struggled with my weight for quite a while. I excercise and eat right, yet I lose nothing. I came up with a plan a few years ago to run a 5k and keep running them to keep me motivated for excercise. Promtly after I came up with this plan I ended up with a longer term illness and was not able to follow though.
I recently finally started feeling a little better and I found a fun 5k race. I signed up, and although it was a major push I was able to complete it. The group was great. They were super encouraging even though I was going slow. Everyone clapped and applaused as I came to the finish long. And then they greeted me with my completion medal. Overall it was just a very motivating experience. I find myself already looking foward to the next one. Time will tell if 5k's will help me improve my habits and train harder, but so far so good.
